Skill Assessment for Migration

Skills Assessment is one of the important conditions that you must meet to be able to apply for some types of skilled immigrant visa such as Visa 482, 190 and 491, you will need to prove you are capable of meeting the requirements of the occupational in which you are registered, certified by the relevant occupational appraisal organization. These certificates are referred to collectively as the Skills Assessment.

Having your skills assessed is a requirement for skilled migration to Australia under points tested or employer sponsored. The 482 visa Skills Assessment Program is an assessment pathway for applicants applying for a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 482), who:

  • Work in a nominated occupation and hold a passport from a nominated country or Special Administrative Region (SAR) as indicated in the table below;
  • Are required by the Department of Home Affairs

Occupations are classified as either general professional occupations or trade occupations. Before starting the application process determine whether your occupation is considered general or trade.
